A pulsating tie at the Franchi with Roberto Baggio and Stefano Borgonovo in full flow for the home side. Aldo Serena was the main goalscoring protagonist for the Nerazzurri but his goal haul proved to be insufficient for Giovanni Trapattoni’s side.
The lead swung back and forward between the two teams before a comical climax. A defensive calamity from the visitors gifted Borgonovo the chance to decide the game. And, at the peak of his goal-pinching powers, he was never going to let such an opportunity slip by.
